I noticed recently that there is a new novel out by Blake Morrison – wait for it – “The Executor”. According to the blurb he has created a biting portrait of competitive male friendship, sexual obsession and the fragile transactions of married life. The book innovatively interweaves poetry and prose to form a gripping literary detective story.
I probably won’t have time to read the book and I suspect that the protagonist is a “literary executor” as opposed to an executor of the normal kind who goes around explaining what is probate but, as many executors will know, reality can sometimes be stranger than fiction. I wonder if Blake Morrison’s Matt Holmes employed expert legal support in dealing with the estate.
