A colleague has just shown me a 2008 posting about probate fees:
Three years later things are much the same. A client called in this morning seeking some advice on capital gains tax on the possible sale of land included in her late father’s estate. I asked her how she had fared with probate. She said that she and her brother had done the work themselves because they had been quoted at least £10,000 by the various firms of solicitors they had approached. They would have preferred a professional service but could not find one prepared to do the job at a reasonable fee.
Happily she now knows of our existence and will spread the word.
